How to fight DEPRESSION on your own in 30 days?

My experiences with depression

How to fight depression on your own in 30 days? I will immediately preempt any objections — you cannot overcome depression in 30 days, but during this time you can take concrete actions that will significantly change your situation. Depression can have different levels of severity. I strongly encourage anyone who suspects they have this condition to visit a specialist. In the meantime, it is still worth trying to seek knowledge and solutions to your problems on our own, as it can be a great addition to treatment.

This blog post answers the following questions:

  1. How can you combat depression independently in 30 days?
  2. What are some personal experiences with depression?
  3. What is the link between depression and personal development?
  4. How can you separate depression from your true self?
  5. What is the 30-day method for overcoming depression?”

To start, a brief outline of my story. For a large part of my life, I have struggled with depression and as a result, faced many difficulties. The beginning took place already in high school, where unfortunately I didn’t do my best. I was not particularly liked at that time, and as a result, I was often attacked and ridiculed by my peers. I was (and still am) an introvert. Back then, I didn’t understand who I was — I hated my life. I didn’t feel like going to school and was only looking for excuses not to have to attend classes. My world was my computer and computer games, where I felt good and safe. I didn’t want to experience the pain that awaited me in school and in the outside world, so I escaped into video games and being alone.

Later in life, it was also very difficult at times. Often, I was unable to fit into the world around me (or maybe I was trying to fit in forcefully). This resulted in depression and many problems. I didn’t handle relationships with others very well, I wasn’t able to settle professionally in any one place, and many people simply didn’t like me because I preferred to spend time alone. In 2012, I literally hit rock bottom when I quit yet another job and couldn’t find my place. The symptoms of depression made me fed up with everything. I also went to a psychologist for over a year (unfortunately, it didn’t really help me). Deep down, I knew that I could do more and I can improve and change my live. Then books on personal development appeared in my life. They slowly began to guide me towards improvement and change in my life for the better. I started to slowly believe in myself and expand my very small comfort zone.

Who you are?

For the last 6 years, I have been searching for ways to improve my condition and enhance my life. Books on personal development, biographies of successful people and daily getting out of my comfort zone allowed me to move and get rid of depression.

Positive motivation gave me the desire to take action and overcome my barriers, which in turn allowed me to get to know myself and eventually discover who I am and what is good for me. I realized I don’t have to pretend to be someone I’m not, and I can go my way.

After moving to Cracow and working as a waiter in the food industry, I discovered online business and Amazon. I started turning my interest in books into an online business. I realized I could do something that interested me, and make money on it. My depression stemmed from a lack of opportunities to live the life I wanted — I didn’t know before that it was up to me where and what I would do. Books have opened my eyes to the world and shown me that I can change a lot in my life.

How to combat depression? Depression is not you.

Before we move on to ways of fighting depression, let’s clarify what depression is. Depression is a condition when you experience a significant deterioration in mood. The symptoms of depression include sadness, fatigue, indifference, feelings of guilt, and a worsening sense of self-worth. Suicidal thoughts can also occur. Remember that depression is not assigned to you and depression is not you. Depression is an illness and if you understand that, you will be able to separate this state from yourself. You must take responsibility for yourself (this is a very important element not only in the fight against depression, but at every stage of changing your life).

Even if you are struggling with problems such as depression, don’t let anyone convince you that you are a certain type of person — you can change everything and especially get rid of depression. Even if you actually have depression, you have to deceive yourself and your mind a little bit. Here, positive affirmations and all kinds of motivational things, such as books, etc., can be very helpful.

Maybe you are actually in a bad stage of your life, you have depression, no friends, etc. However, to begin with, you need to stop convincing yourself that this is the case because such a negative approach will only deepen your problems. Start feeding yourself with positive things and changing your beliefs. You are more than just a person with problems — you can change your life and achieve more than you think. You are in control of your life and your emotions. Recently I mentioned a great book that literally changed my life and helped me motivate myself to act during a major depression.

How to fight depression on your own?

The author of this method is probably Tony Robbins — a personal development guru. This is a very simple method that allows to get rid of negative beliefs and emotions by associating negative states (such as depression) with very negative consequences that these states will cause. Tony Robbins believes that each of us is motivated by the desire to avoid pain and the pursuit of pleasure — very simple and true. That is why it is so important to tackle our negative emotions in this double way. How to do it?

Pleasure and pain, or the battle against depression.

First of all, you need to associate depression with pain, negative consequences, and unpleasant experiences that we you’ll encounter if you give in to depression. On the other hand, you must combine the feeling of pleasure with the state in which you enjoy life, improve yourself, act, exceed your comfort zone and develop. You must feel the joy of finding yourself.

This process will help you change your mental beliefs and associate depression with pain and negative effects. At the same time, this process will encourage you to do things that will reveal your true potential. You must feel the pain that awaits if you give in to depression, and at the same time feel the pleasure that awaits you if you act in a positive direction.

How to overcome depression and take the first steps towards a better future in 30 days?

Why 30 days? Because it takes so much time to develop a habit of changing your beliefs in every aspect of our life. Apply this method every morning for at least 30 days and your perception of depression should change. You will easily separate this emotion from yourself and associate it only with pain and negative effects.

Every morning, repeat the following sentences:

NEVER AGAIN IN MY LIFE WILL I GIVE IN TO DEPRESSION (or any other negative thing in this context)

BECAUSE THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS ARE ENORMOUS PAIN, LOSS OF LOVED ONES, MISSED OPPORTUNITIES, SADNESS… (add your own negative effects)

I AM A VERY VALUABLE PERSON — I WANT TO BE… WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE IS… WHAT I WANT TO EXPERIENCE IS… (type at your discretion what will positively affect you)

I WANT TO LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST, DEVELOP MYSELF, OVERCOME CHALLENGES, AND ENJOY LIFE!

Repeat these sentences every morning. Let it be your morning ritual, which will take you 5 minutes every day. Do it energetically, out loud, and put your heart into pronouncing these few sentences. You can repeat the exercise during the day as needed. Let this be your first challenge on your way. Remember that reading this article won’t change anything — you have to do this exercise every day for 30 days.

I run this blog because I have gone through tough times myself and I would really like to help others overcome their own weaknesses and improve their lives. I believe in you and if you liked this post then I encourage you to check out other articles on my blog and my YouTube channel.

Depression and help of a specialist

Many people accuse me of promoting self-treatment and discouraging people from seeking help from specialists. In no case is it so. I just want to show you in this article that despite depression (or other health and other problems), it’s worth taking matters into your own hands. You can solve many problems on your own and often it is more effective.

Depression is the result of many factors and you (regardless of whether you are using the help of a psychologist or psychiatrist) can help yourself a lot. In case of many illnesses, we rely on strangers (a doctor) and medication.

However, we forget that diseases have their cause. Why do you think I practice sports every day, exercise in the morning, go to the sauna, and try to stay active? Why do I avoid sugar and poor quality food? Health problems are not random occurrences that happen to random people. Of course, life is not fair, but by taking care of yourself, you reduce the risk of many diseases, and if you have a problem such as depression, it is a signal that you need to take care of yourself as soon as possible.

Fighting depression — how to deal with depression?

Knowledge, or rather understanding the essence of the disease and your own problem, helps a lot. If you understand how depression works and what causes it, your symptoms will be much milder because you will learn to look at yourself and your problems from a third-person perspective. This applies to many problems and emotional states in life. This is how meditation works as well, which means looking at oneself from a bit of a distance. Seek knowledge and be a conscious person. Knowledge is the key to success in overcoming many obstacles in life. I overcame depression without medication, and the over year-long help from a specialist was, from my perspective, of very low quality. However, I strongly encourage you to seek the help of specialists, as each case is different and it is definitely worth trying to fight on many fronts.

It is also worth trying to take care of yourself. The positive affirmations presented above will help you improve your mood and regain control. This, in turn, will help you to take action and reduce the chances that your disease worsens. Start practicing even the simplest sport and take care of your body — you don’t even know how positively it will affect you. What’s your diet like? Perhaps your diet also needs improvement and you are consuming very poor quality food? Who do you surround yourself with? Are you in the place in life where you want to be? Maybe what surrounds you doesn’t suit you, and you don’t know what to do?

Start working on yourself. Give up what doesn’t serve you and start taking action. Improve your life every day at least minimally. Set even small challenges for yourself and try to accomplish them — I call them small victoriesActive engagement and expanding your own comfort zone will make you start feeling joy. The morning habits I do every day was an incredible help for me. So do whatever you can and don’t give up — remember that no one will ever take care of you as well as you take care of yourself.
