A very large part of society works full-time—it’s normal and there’s nothing wrong with that. The more ambitious ones, however, are looking for a way to start an additional business that will bring them income after hours and may eventually even allow them to leave full-time job. How to make money online? Is it easy and is “making money online” for everyone? Unfortunately, a large portion of these individuals are not aware that running even a small online business requires hard work and, above all, a completely different approach.
When starting an online business (or any other type of business), we cannot have a sense of entitlement or demand earnings after the first month, as is the case with a regular job. Unfortunately, some of my students starting their business on Amazon ask me right at the beginning, “how much will I earn per month?”, “will I be able to make a living from this business?”, “what is the guarantee of making a profit?”, etc. I am very saddened by such questions because it is the wrong approach.
Online business requires months and years of work. It is only after time that every business is able to generate more and more income that exceeds the salary on the job. The first money you can be easily earn after a few weeks, but I think the time needed to initiate (make meaningful money) online business is at least six months.
Online business vs nine-to-five job—comparison of earning methods
If you go to work, you get your first salary right after a month. This gives you the opportunity to make money without taking risks or investing. As time goes on, you can earn a bit more and receive a paycheck every month. However, what if you want to earn more? Let’s say you make 3 thousand dollars. As for the first job, it is not so bad salary, but over time your needs grow and what to do then? Unfortunately, in most cases it is difficult to earn significantly more while working in a regular job.
How is it in online business? How to make money online? The beginning is always very difficult and requires learning and breaking many barriers. In particular, you have to overcome your mental barriers and believe that you will succeed, because you will surely come to work for months for free and you will have to invest your own capital. Your earnings will initially be minimal and unlike in your nine-to-five-job, you have no guarantee of making money.
However, if you persist in difficult beginnings and make use of the knowledge gained from those who are better than you, you can quickly start such a business and start making the first money. Over time, online business will start generating first income, and you have to be a persistent person and not give up. Success is simply action and not giving up in the process—it is so simple and so difficult at the same time.
The job may be fun at first, but if you stop working, guess what’s gonna happen? Yes—you will not earn. Plus, over time, you can’t count on more money. It is different in online business—earnings at the beginning are small, but over time you will start earning more and your revenue will increase. If you are a systematic person, over time your online business earnings may well exceed your full-time salary, as was in my case. Moreover, if you stop working for a while then your online business will continue to earn money for you. Time works here in your favor.
How to earn money online while working full-time?
Online business has the advantage of allowing us to gradually build a company with relatively low financial investment. The most important thing is to understand that you need to start gradually, be systematic, and make use of knowledge, as without this knowledge, you will quickly fail on simple problems. If you are now employed then you are in an ideal position—you have a constant cash supply and you are able to devote a small percentage of your income to starting a business online.
It is very important to set a specific time windows which you will dedicate to your business. You can start this business after hours and spend, for example, 3 evenings a week on work related to your online business. You also have to treat your business as a business, not a hobby. If you decide to create an online business, remember that you are opening and owning a business. It doesn’t matter that you run an online business at the beginning without a formal company (often you can run an online business without a registered company, especially at the beginning), but you have to think about yourself in terms of business owner. Over time, you will start earning more passive income from your business and only then can you think about leaving your regular job.
Making money online is often a pretended business.
There is no such thing as magic money-making online business. Many people are fooled by promises of big online earnings with little work. The Internet is a great tool that enables modern business and gives us the opportunity to scale this business independently without the use of employees, without renting any premises and without big investments. However, there are no shortcuts. You have to work hard and you can’t avoid it.
Do not get involved in MLM and similar “online investment” schemes, as they are businesses that rely on collecting commissions from the people who join these programs. Instead, try to build a brand and provide value. By providing value, you will make people willing to pay you. I earn money online, but my income comes from selling real products—books, eBooks, and online courses. I create my brand and give values to others.
Once you decide how to earn online, only thing you have to do is to work hard. Every business requires a completely different approach and taking responsibility for your own decisions.
